Post Number One!

Wow, it seems like I should have planned something really thoughtful to say but, sadly, I didn’t. So I’ll just say again that I’m so glad you stopped by!  I’ve always tried creative things. I’ve written a few books. I tried watercolor painting but the learning curve was really frustrating. I haven’t given up, but it’s not something I am currently putting a lot of effort into.

When we moved, our new home was in a rural area, and I was looking for some way to express myself and connect with some like-minded people. I found the scrapbooking community and started teaching myself to use Paint Shop Pro – the poor lady’s version of Photoshop. 🙂 I quickly realized both of these things complemented my hobby of being the family historian. So I started turning my family tree into scrapbooks, to make sure that our family history was never lost.

Eventually, I started making greeting cards and enjoyed it so much that I never stopped. During the second gulf war and our time in Afghanistan, I found an organization called Soldier’s Angels. They do wonderful work for our servicemembers who are deployed and – bonus! – I now had something meaningful to do with all my handmade cards! I love making cards, because it’s creative and helps me express things I might not say to someone in any other way.

There are so many talented people who have blogs, and make videos to share what they’ve learned. I’ve always wanted to have a blog, but I never had the time to keep one up. Now that I’m closer to retirement, I thought it was time to give it a try.

Please join me as I work my way through my stash, one paper pack, stamp and die at a time, and see what I can get done. My plan is to post a picture of what I plan to use and then follow up with pictures of the items I make.  Some projects will be cards and some will be scrapbook pages.  I hope you’ll come along with me on this journey!
