Betterpress Card

Hello and thank you so much for stopping by!

Today I made my first card using the Betterpress. I’ve watched many videos about this new tool, and was excited to try it! Unfortunately, I had surgery on my dominant hand several weeks ago and felt I really needed both hands to try it out. LOL

My brace came off yesterday and I am free to dive back into my craft stash – woohoo!! After all, trying the Betterpress and coloring an image would be great therapy for my hand – right? Right! 🙂 I’m sorry I didn’t think to take pictures of the unboxing until I was dropping the box into my recycling bin. I promise to get better about taking pictures.

I tried two different papers with the Betterpress – a piece of the gray Betterpress paper included with the tool and I also cut a piece of 140lb 100% cotton watercolor paper down to A2 size. Then I made a card base from Simon Says Stamp Smoke cardstock and set it aside while I played. This lovely design called Rose Bouquet is the August release from their plate of the month club. The picture below looks like I used the white paper, but I promise it’s the gray Betterpress paper. Now, what to do with this gorgeous image…

After not holding a pencil or pen for a month, I wasn’t sure I could stay inside the lines with my Copics or a watercolor brush, so I broke out my Prismacolor pencils. Then I used gamsol, a la Gina K, to smooth out the coloring. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the pencils mostly went where I wanted them to. Yippee!!

I trimmed the panel down just enough for the card base to frame the image and attached the panel to the card base. Then I die cut a sentiment from a scrap of black cardstock and attached it. For a little extra sparkle, I used a Nuvo aqua shimmer pen on the sentiment. I thought about adding some other embellishments, but I didn’t want anything to take away from that beautiful, detailed image!

I hope you like the card and, if it’s within your budget, I really encourage you to try the Betterpress. It is amazing!
